The Sofia Sling Bag PDF sewing pattern makes a wonderful everyday bag, big enough for the necessities plus a good book or your tablet. Convenient to just sling over your shoulder as you go out. It's a really fun sew and the little D-ring at the front is a great hanger for one's sunglasses (or nowadays for a clip for ones mask). It's soft but structured with the foam interfacing. Can be made sporty or classy, and it's a great "man bag" in the right fabrics.
The Sofia Sling Bag is like all my bags fully lined, has open interior slip pockets and it has a lining zipper pocket that one births the bag through.
This pattern comes with both inch and centimeter measurements.

BASIC SKILLS NECESSARY
This is a pattern for the intermediate to advanced beginner bagmaker.
MEASUREMENTS
Finished size: ~11” (28cm) high, ~11” (28cm) wide at the top and 3” (8cm) deep at the base.
SUPPLIES NEEDED
Fabric:
½ yard (40cm) - Exterior: Cotton fabric, vinyl, faux leather or cork fabric.
⅓ yard (30cm) - Contrast: Cotton fabric, vinyl, faux leather or cork fabric for straps.
⅔ yard” (60cm) - Lining: Cotton fabric.
Interfacing:
12” x 32” (35x80cm) - Foam interfacing: By Annie’s Soft & Stable, Pellon FlexFoam, Bosal In-R-Form or similar.
12” x 32” (35x80cm) Fusible web: Heat n’ Bond Lite, Vliesofix Bondaweb or similar, the kind you use for appliqué. Only needed if working with cotton exterior and non-fusible foam.
1 ½ yard (130cm) - Thin fusible interfacing: Vilene G700 woven fusible, Pellon SF101 Shape-Flex or similar.
10” x 4” (25x10cm) - Heavy interfacing: Pellon Peltex 71, Fast 2 Fuse Heavy or similar very sturdy interfacing to stabilize the bottom. If you don’t have this, a piece of sturdy cardboard or even a thin plastic cutting board can be used if you’re not planning on washing your bag.
Notions:
1 - #3 Zipper 9” (23cm) (or longer): Should match the lining fabric.
1 - Magnetic snap: Turn locks can also be used.
2 - 1” (2.5cm) Rectangular rings: D-rings can also be used.
1 - 1” (2.5cm) Strap slider: For adjustable strap length.
1 - 1” (2.5cm) D-ring: For decor on the flap, optional.
4 - Double cap rivets: Optional, but gives a nice touch.
1 - 1” (2.5cm) Metal strap end: Optional, but gives a nice touch.
1 - Handmade sign: Optional.
Double sided quilting/sewing tape: I warmly recommend this.
Rotary cutter, cutting mat and ruler.
Non-permanent marker: For making temporary marks, that can be removed with water, heat or similar.
Fabric clips.
